first graduating class of the Bais Yaakov Seminary, Poland 1934

This is a literal dream come true. The Agudah builds a five-story building with dormitories, classrooms, and dining halls. In 1923 the seminary officially opens with 120 students registered for the first year.

In 1924 [1] Agudas Yisroel adopts Bais Yaakov and takes over all fincial responsibility. Now you get to focus all of your attention on what you love: teaching young Jewish girls Torah.

Opposition from the established Orthodox and Chassidish community is infuriatingly still a problem. Even though you trust your girls, you always go with them to a new community so they don’t have to set up shop alone. Together with your students you face the opposition head on.

Eventually Agudas Yisroel reaches out to the leading rabbis of the generation, including the Gerrer Rebbe, Rabbi Avraham Mordechai, and Rabbo Yisroel Meir Kagen, better known as the Chofetz Chaim, and get their blessings.

[1] Disputed date, according to the Encyclopedia Judaica Agudas Yisroel did not adopt Bais Yaakov until 1929.
